Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Gules (Crimson), a barrulet dancett couped Or between in chief a sword-breaker and in base a key both fesswise Or. Attached below the shield a Gold scroll inscribed "I FEED THE FLAME" in Crimson.

Symbolism
Crimson and yellow are the colors for the Ordnance Corps. The special weapons function and the retaliatory nature of such weapons are represented by the sword-breaker. The security functions are symbolized by the key, and the barrulet between indicates the widely separated points of origin of the two companies.

The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 27 May 1954.
